UPDATE FROM HONDURAS - SUNDAY & WORSHIP
'08 Health Care Mission to Honduras
 March 8-15, 2008

SUNDAY, A DAY OF WORSHIP AND WORK!

The internet connection here at Casal Bed and Breakfast is very unstable in the mornings and tye internet seems to work only in the late evening.  So, preparing this newsletter has to be late in the evening that is why you are just getting the Sunday report.

Sunday started with a visit to the United Nations Park on top of a mountain overlooking the City of Tegucigalpa.  We usually have the Sunday morning worship service at the base of the 100' tall statue of Jesus.  However, due to some type of movie production, we had to relocation to the circular terrace you see below.  The weather was wonderful and the sky had some very beautiful, small "puflfy" clouds.  The music was lead by Father Fid and Paster Jack had a great message that raised our awareness of the goals of this mission of building spiritial relationships with those we came to serve in Tegucigalpa.  When we know our neighbor we will relate to our neigbor in a more postive, spiritural way.  We will understand their problems and challenges better.

After the morning worship service at the United Nations Park, part of the team went to the Fuerzas Unidas Church to start setting up the pharmacy, unpacking the UPS shipment and to set up the doctors' examination rooms and part went to the Valley of the Angels for visit to this remarkable city of craftsmen and living example of a traditional Honduran town.

Below is Pastora Sandra Carcamo, minister of the Fuerzas Unidas Church, on the left and Pastor Jack and Father Fid on the right.  This is during the worship service at the Fuerzas Unidas United Methodist Church.

Below is a family getting ready to attend the 3:00 PM worship service at Fuerzas Unidas Church.  The service featured the singing and scared dance of the children.  The worship service was a great time for illustratng that Jesus loves the little children.  In most Honduran Methodist Churches, children are almost 50% of the congregration.

The night before opening the clinic, the mission team must work in packaging the medicine for the pharmacy.  Due the heavy demand on the pharmacy during the operation of the medical clinic, the medicine must be prepackaged as much as possible.

Dinner on Sunday evening was at Claudio's Restaurant, next door to the Casal Bed and Breakfast.

Below is a little girl who came to church. The middle photo is a street in Fuerzas Unidas. The bottom one is of Dr. Kellie Kute, pediatrician, with a patient.  This young boy fell and hurt his head during play after church.  He was very brave and didn't cry.  Holding the little boy is Mary Ann Burch.
