Card Ministry, Helping Hands, and Telecare

Card Ministry: Birthday cards and wishes from several ‘church friends’ are sent to persons who are affiliated with the church who may be ill or shut in.  If you know of someone who needs this ministry or if you would like to volunteer to send cards, contact the church office (227-7430).

Helping Hands: This ministry provides occasional meals and basic errands to families or persons who have illness in the family, who are recovering from illness or grief, or who are facing other difficult situations where energy and time are limited.  A team coordinator, Shirley Lewis, determines if there are food allergies that need to be considered and schedules people who have volunteered to provide meals or run errands.

Telecare: The Telecare ministry is a systematic ministry of touching and connecting with members of the First United Methodist Church community.  Its goals are to assist in the care and retention of our members, to aid the communication between members, to encourage and lift up members and visitors in prayer, and to assure that members and visitors receive the appropriate care and resources as they face life’s difficulties.  If regular attenders have been absent three consecutive Sundays, a member of the Telecare team calls to determine if there is sickness or if any help from the church is needed.  If there are problems, a referral is made to the pastor or associate pastor, and they follow up with a personal contact.  For more information or to participate on the Team, contact the church ofice at 227-7430.
