What Happened In VegasWHAT HAPPENS IN VEGAS?
Thank you, church, for your prayer and support for the trip to Seguidores de Cristo church in North Las Vegas. Just in case you were wondering if we managed to get any work done on our trip, here are a few things that we accomplished for this mission church while we were there a few weeks ago (as a mixed team of 15 youth and adults):![]() -We gave them a new nursery (complete with new carpet, paint, a border, and furniture).
-Painted the walls in the sanctuary, and finished painting on the outside as well.
-Did a ton of work on the cooling and heating system to improve their energy bills month to month (exterior insulation, cleaning, and fixing up their duct work).
-Networked 8 computers (complete with internet access) for an ESL Computer Lab – as an outreach for that church and ministry to their community (one of our youth did all of the work on this project).-Two of our youth organized and cleaned a room that the church is using for community ministry (distributing cleaning products, dental care products, feminine products, toilet paper, paper towels, etc.) alongside the district food bank. Did an amazing job!
-Purchased playground equipment for them as they continue to work on their property and
move towards opening a daycare. -Worked on a new children’s room (new toys, books, material, things for the walls, etc.) for the church.
-Did new flanges (and all the workings underneath – dug down into concrete around 2 of them) for their toilets in the men’s and women’s bathrooms to stop leaking toilets.
-Cleaned and spruced up the building inside and out (cleaned carpets, worked on their pigeon problem, picked up garbage on their lot, etc.)!
While this is not a complete list, it gives you a small idea of how hard this team worked. We hope that what happens in Vegas Stays in Vegas, and that the church continues to build on the work that we started (as they certainly had since last year). We also managed to continue to nurture the relationship between the Rodriguez family and our congregation, and ask that you continue to pray for that church and this family that we have known through our work in Honduras. Thanks again, church, for the opportunity to represent you as your mission team to this fabulous church in Vegas! If you are interested in seeing more pictures, check them out here (98.2MB)
